Revenues derived under the provisions of this chapter shall be used only for the acquisition, construction, reconstruction, maintenance, and operation of the works of the District, to repay principal and interest on bonds issued for the construction or reconstruction of such works, including revenue bonds issued pursuant to Chapter 5 (commencing with Section 4950) of Part 3, Division 5 of the Health and Safety Code, and to repay Federal or State loans or advances made to the District for the construction or reconstruction of works; provided, however, that such revenue shall not be used for the acquisition or construction of new local street sewers or laterals as distinguished from main trunk interceptor, and outfall sewers.
